Your videos are looking more and more professional all the time! This one reminds me of a show on the Food Network called Food Finds. Really great post! Good editing, closeups of the dogs, the restaurant signs etc... awesome!! :)
4 loaded hot dogs in one afternoon for a skinny kid like yourself is pretty impressive. This is definitely a video I would've loved to be involved with...Hot-Dog-Hopping.
Excellent post Josh. I'm constantly on the look out for a good dog (any pizza too!). Now I know where to go in Grand Rapids for sure. Oh no! Now all your firends will visit and want you to take them out for even more hot dogs!
I really like the shots from the last place you visited (Yesterdog); great indoor lighting. What kind of camera are you using these days?
Nice vid of GR flava. I'm a big fan of the ol' Yesterdog myself. Very impressive hot dog stamina. That was like a workout. Nice editing on that segment too. I'll be back to visit your blog again sometime.
I'm not a fan of lots of toppings in hot dogs, but now I now what's a agood combination of toppings to have in a hot dog. Oh, and the secret ingredient: messy!
I had no idea there were so many wiener choices in GR! I also had no idea people put so much stuff on their hot dogs. I never thought of hot dogs as a vehicle for anything besides mustard and stewed onions. It's the NYC way!
Nice hair cut! Any one from GR could have told you the best dogs come from Yesterdog. Plus it is such a cool place. Everyone should go there some time in their life!!!
Josh, The thing happened today, a friend hooked me up with the Josh Rouse album Nashville...the first song I listened was Carolina...I was suddenly bamboozled...I was not in front of my computer, or iPod, I was driving...
I just watched a clip from some Motion Graphics Chicago conference, encouraging people to videoblog. It featured a snappy little video about how "we are the media" and how this is a revolution. And maybe it is...
I'm concerned though, because there were very few people of color, certainly no black folks, in that video? I wonder if your revolution is just affluent and mostly white?
I would PM you, but I couldn't find any contact on your blog.
oh man I remember Yesterdog. That place was so dang good. I need to come to GR to visit you and get some dogs. P.S. you could do a comparison of some of the dogs in the chicagoland area and see how they compare with yesterdog.
You seem to be on the road a lot. I was thinking it would save on gas if you could vlog multiple chronicles (if you haven't done it already). Say have a hotdog in Bavaria saved on footage, then go see a winery, and then someplace else. Keep it real. I enjoyed the installment on hiking and Thanksgiving by the way. Happy New Year.
I just discovered this vlog and it is awesome! One of my favorites. I should start my own one of these days. Anyway, I just had a question regarding hot-dogs and your hometown Chicago. What is the best hot-dog place in Chicago? I am going to the windy city next month and your video made me hungry. I am French and there are NO good hotdogs over here in France, none!
Josh, while I'll don't agree with your #1 rating, I was still very impressed with your work and attention to detail. Having lived in Chicago and GR, I feel we have similar backgrounds. I'd rate as follows: 1. The Grand Coney (Perfect Detroit Style Coney) 2. Chicago's Deep Dish & Dogs (all the right toppings, just need more. Pile it on!) 3. Yesterdog (Ax the Ketchup!) Dog Pit I haven't been there yet but am eager to check it out.
dude, you do not know chili dogs. Have you ever tried Red Hot Inn chili dogs. They rock, especially when you smother them with chili & cheese. If you love onions their flavor will stay with you for a day. They also have chili cheese fries to die for.Check them out Leonard & Beltline!

Wait a minute!!! You've got Josh Leo's Pick's for Vlogs, right?
How about a new vlog called Josh Leo's Hot Dog Picks! A lifetime of hot dog videos from around the world.
I forget, did you catch any "frankfurter" action in germany?
Vloggercon should provide some good ones in NYC.

you seem unfamiliar with coney islands.
this cannot be.
they are everywhere on this side of MI.
ALSO
V once did a high-caliber school report on hot dogs.

Yesterdog's would have gotten my vote also! Aaahh, the memories. Many late nights/early mornings spent in that place.
Being from Chicago, you should have recognized the "electric green" relish as being a signature of Chicago-style dogs.

I was thinking exactly what Erin was thinking. You might get on with the Food Network if all else fails ;)
Also, if you ever come to Atlanta, be sure to visit THE VARSITY! Especially if you need a GOOD colon cleanser :)

Canada has next to no hotdog culture, other than the weenie at the campfire or backyard barbeque.
When I was living in Los Angeles, I was really blown away when I saw hot dog franchises advertising on the television and billboards.
It never occurred to me that it could be a popular fast food.
