We Are The Media

This is a video mashup/collage of stock footage and members of the vlogosphere. I feel like we are all one big group of friends fighting to make grassroots media a force to be reckoned with. Keep reciting the slogan and know that it is true! Take corporate media's power away!

  • That was a nice piece o' work right there. All that time importing paid off.

Vlogging is still kind of a new thing and yet all the work that has been done is amazing to see.

  • Cool. I think more people need to make more videos that are a collage of what they find interesting, or present some sort of idea. I mean talking to the camera is great, but I like to see another person's creation like this, it's just another angle from their perspective.

There should be some sort of collage/montage theme week where people mash together stuff that they like and post it creatively to help some of us get a better idea of who we are talking to.

PS I have an idea how to do that satellite map zoom effect you have in your intro but it seems really tedious, how did you do yours? Maybe it really IS tedious?

  • Josh Leo - You rock!

    This is so cool.

And the amazing thing about it is that you have selected clips from
    bloggers that are right on.

I love that baby reaching out to the camera! LOVE IT!

  • Josh,
This was a great promo for videoblogging. It shows the growth of this form of communication and many of the people involved. It must have taken a lot of time to compile and edit. However, I do have one suggestion. I didn't know many of the people featured, and would have liked callouts or lower-thirds within the video. I don't want to create more work for you, but if you can do that, this video can be a wonderful tool to promote videoblogging to people outside the community.

By Blogger YRG, at 11:54 PM, April 27, 2005

  • Stop that!

Stop, kicking so much ass. It's annoying me. I can't go a week without someone telling me to check out your latest vlog post. It's annoying!

Of course I'm joking about being annoyed. You rock! Keep kicking ass.

BTW, Names would be cool as Josh mentioned. Perhaps Adrian Miles could give you a hand on putting hyperlinks IN the video, though the cuts are so short perhaps just names is enough.

    Cheers!

  • very cool. you are my favorite revolution.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:03 PM, April 28, 2005

  • Just watched it again. Even aside from the ego massage of seeing my own face in there (lower...lower...that's it...aaahhhhh). This is powerful stuff. Thanks for making this.

P.S. Your rant looked good on the big screen in NYC last night.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:47 PM, April 28, 2005

  • Doh, As Yves points out, I'm an idiot, that comment about callouts was to Josh, not from Josh. I guess I need to take the time to read things a little more closer. Stupid mistake.

    Reading is fundamental. :)

  • I really liked this video. I've watched it several times. Good editing, good music. Very well done. I also liked the baby reaching out bit. :-)

  • It is one thing to paint a picture, but it is far more glorious to carve the very atmosphere through which we look. (Thoreau) Awesome Job!!!
